Examining the Rapids’ salaries

The Major League Soccer players union has released its annual update of salaries. Here, we take a look at the Colorado Rapids’ salaries for the 2009 season.

Routinely, the Rapids cite that the terms of the team’s player contracts are not disclosed because of the club’s policies. However, the players have, for years, made this information available. With players earning as little as $20,100, it’s not difficult to understand why.

Check out all of the player salaries for 2009, 2008 and 2007 at the players’ Web site.

The players are listed below with two sets of numbers. The first is the player’s base salary. The second is an average of guaranteed compensation for 2009, which includes the base salary plus all bonuses averaged over the life of the contract.
