Pablo called up by Nats

Colorado Rapids captain Pablo Mastroeni is among 22 players invited by the U.S. men’s national team to train in advance of World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago.

Former Rapids goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann also is on the list.

Rounding out the invitees are Freddy Adu, Jozy Altidore, DaMarcus Beasley, Carlos Bocanegra, Michael Bradley, Danny Califf, Brian Ching, Jay DeMerit, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Maurice Edu, Brad Guzan, Frankie Hejduk, Tim Howard, Eddie Johnson, Sacha Kljestan, Oguchi Onyewu, Heath Pearce, Jonathan Spector and Jose Francisco Torres.

    I love Pablo and I think he has a role on the team, but not as a starter. Bradley is entrenched as a starter and we have a lot of younger players coming through the ranks so I see him as a role player/spot starter. But he’s a fave of mine, so I’m glad he’s involved.
