The Colorado Rapids have signed forward Gregory Richardson, whose rights the team acquired last month in a trade with Toronto, and defender Scott Palguta, formerly with the Rochester Rhinos.

The Rapids did not release terms of the signings Friday.

Richardson, a native of Guyana, made the North American soccer community take notice after scoring three goals against the New England Revolution in September in Foxboro, Mass. Richardson’s team, the Trinidad and Tobago club Joe Public, beat the Revs 4-1 that night en route to a 6-1 aggregate victory in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Palguta played with the Rhinos for four years, and he played under current Rapids assistant coach Steve Guppy in 2008. Palguta, a Cornell alumnus, is the only player from the Ivy League to be drafted into the United Soccer Leagues’ First Division.
