The Colorado Rapids have signed defender Michael Holody to a developmental contract and have waived midfielder John DiRaimondo.

Holody was the Rapids’ final selection in this year’s draft, taken with the 59th overall pick in the fourth round out of the University of Michigan. He played in six preseason matches with the Rapids, including Tuesday’s Burgundy & Blue match against Metropolitan State College. He is Michigan’s all-time leader in minutes played (6,498).

DiRaimondo appeared in 11 games with eight starts, playing in 714 minutes, in two seasons with the Rapids. He earned his first career MLS start and scored his first professional goal against the Kansas City Wizards on April 5, 2008. DiRaimondo was also a member of the Rapids 2007 MLS Reserve Division championship team.
