Rapids right back in L.A. on Tuesday
The Colorado Rapids will return to Southern California and play the Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday for a U.S. Open Cup play-in game.
The U.S. Open Cup game will be one of three meetings between the teams this month. The Rapids and Galaxy had a scheduled Major League Soccer fixture Saturday night at the Home Depot Center, and the Galacticos will visit Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on April 25.
Tuesday’s Rapids-Galaxy match is the first of four U.S. Open Cup play-in games for MLS squads. The other matchups feature Dallas at D.C. United on Apr. 22, Real Salt Lake at Seattle on April 28 and New York at San Jose on April 29.
If the Rapids advance, they would face the winner of the RSL-Seattle match, which will be played at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash.
The Rapids eliminated Los Angeles from the Cup last year with a 1-0 victory at the Home Depot Center. Conor Casey scored in the 82nd minute.
