ben, when you write, "my theory is that no one actually watches the rapids or pays any attention to them," i felt the same way you did. i'm glad someone has spoken up on THAT issue. when i saw the player-of-the-week voting, i thought to myself, "did nobody watch that rapids game? did nobody see schelotto play?" i think anyone who watched schelotto on saturday saw a damn fine performance, and anybody who had a POTW vote would've chosen him. so that made me start to question how many of the voters actually take the time to watch the rapids. in their defense, i don't have time to watch every mls game every week. anybody who's choosing not to watch the rapids is missing what's been a pretty good team so far. if it weren't for a really bad five-minute stretch against chivas, this team could be undefeated right now. on the other hand, if it weren't for a lightning strike by casey on saturday, the rapids could be .500.

So, I am glad somebody has spoken up on this issue. It is pretty ludicrous. My theory is no one actually watches the Rapids or pays any attention to them, so they see the results, read the match preview or injury report and put something that makes sense to the 95% of MLS fans out there who could care less about our beloved Rapids. Its all right to me as long as Gary Smith is telling the squad every day how nobody else believes in them and they are ready to prove the nation wrong.
