The Toffees are coming! the Toffees are coming!

Major League Soccer has announced that English Premier League club Everton will face the best 11 from the MLS during the 2009 All-Star Game.

The Toffees, current FA Cup finalists, will visit Rio Tinto Stadium, the home of Real Salt Lake, on July 29. The game will be televised live by ESPN2 and TeleFutura.

The All-Star Game continues the theme of “MLS Takes on the World.” The MLS All-Star team is 5-0 in previous All-Star Games against international opponents, including a 2-0 victory over Celtic in 2007 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

About George: George Tanner fell in love with the Tampa Bay Rowdies and the North American Soccer League while living in the Tampa, Fla., area in the mid-1970s.
