Rapids lose coin toss, will go to Seattle

The Colorado Rapids will travel to Washington to play the Seattle Sounders in the teams’ next U.S. Open Cup qualifying game.

The coin flip happened Thursday.

The date and time of the game have not been finalized. The Rapids said they will play sometime before May 25.

    It will be interesting to see how seriously Smith takes this match. Colorado needs some silver in the trophy case. The Open Cup is there for the taking, if you are willing to put quality on the field. With the lack of depth brought on by shortened rosters, it would look like the Rapids could run to this title.

    Perhaps it’s just wishful thinking, but I would love to see the Rapids go after this one.

    i completely agree. how many victories would it take to win this? half a dozen? fewer? it will take MANY more victories to win an MLS Cup. i wouldn’t mind the rapids putting all their eggs in this basket, at least in the short term, and establishing some kind of tradition here. on the other hand, most folks in denver don’t even know what the u.s. open cup is.
