- ColoradoSoccer: We go to half knotted at 1. Kudos to Pablo for burying the opportunity. Most defensive midfielders freeze on that shot.
- ColoradoSoccer: And now Mastroeni has an exclamation point for his 170th Rapids start. He combines with Ballouchy for a goal in the dying minutes.
- ColoradoSoccer: By the way, Mastroeni has tied the Rapids start record today with his 170th for Colorado.

It will be interesting to see how seriously Smith takes this match. Colorado needs some silver in the trophy case. The Open Cup is there for the taking, if you are willing to put quality on the field. With the lack of depth brought on by shortened rosters, it would look like the Rapids could run to this title.
Perhaps it’s just wishful thinking, but I would love to see the Rapids go after this one.
i completely agree. how many victories would it take to win this? half a dozen? fewer? it will take MANY more victories to win an MLS Cup. i wouldn’t mind the rapids putting all their eggs in this basket, at least in the short term, and establishing some kind of tradition here. on the other hand, most folks in denver don’t even know what the u.s. open cup is.
