Thornton, Moreno top my ballot

Here are my votes for player of the week, as reported to the North American Soccer Reporters early this morning:

PLAYER NAME: Zach Thornton, Chivas USA

SECOND: Jaime Moreno, D.C. United

COMMENTS: Thornton was very busy in net; he had half a dozen saves, and the earthquakes were shooting the ball like crazy. Thornton leads the league in shutouts, and they haven’t been gimmes. Moreno’s two second-half goals were the difference for D.C.

About George: George Tanner fell in love with the Tampa Bay Rowdies and the North American Soccer League while living in the Tampa, Fla., area in the mid-1970s.
