The Women’s Professional Soccer franchise in Philadelphia has announced its nickname, the Independendence.

The Independence will wear yellow, steel gray and light blue. The team’s motto is “We the People.”

The Philadelphia Independence will begin play in 2010, and the team already has announced Olympic gold medalist Staci Wilson will be an assistant coach.

The team is in the process of designing and developing the official team logo and crest. Details about player signings will be announced in July.

Head on over to the team’s official Web site.
