Another collection of tidbits from the world of Colorado soccer:

GOOD NEWS FOR THE RAPIDS; BAD NEWS FOR THE FANS: On his Sounders FC Blog, Jose Miguel Romero of the Seattle Times reports that international star Freddie Ljungberg won’t be making the trip to Commerce City for the Rapids’ game against the Sounders on Saturday. Lungberg has been having migraines. Read Romero’s blog here.

AND SPEAKING OF LJUNGBERG: Sports Illustrated’s Ridge Mahoney is not impressed. Read all about it.

HENDERSON COMING HOME: One man who will be making the trip is Chris Henderson, holder of one of the Rapids’ Vinyl Banners of Honor. Henderson, who is now the Sounders’ technical director, told Romero that he was offered a similar position by the Rapids but turned it down before heading to the Pacific Northwest. Read more about Henderson and his third lung here.

TWO RAPIDS HONORED: Goal.com likes two Rapids players on its week nine team of the week. Betcha can’t guess which ones. …

A RUN FOR THE BORDER: Remember the cup of coffee Daniel Osorno had with the Rapids in 2007, three games and a cloud of dust? Well, Sports Illustrated’s Luis Bueno has found Osorno playing in Mexico, along with some other familiar names from Major League Soccer. Check it out here.

MOTHER NATURE VS. THE RAPIDS, PART 4: What was it Monday and Tuesday this week? 90 degrees? Somewhere in the 80s? What’s it gonna be when the Sounders are here on Saturday? In the 60s with a chance of rain. And depending on which forecast you read, that chance of rain could be anywhere from “slight” to “50 percent.” Nice. So the elements are conspiring against the Rapids for the fourth time in four home games. Sounds almost identical to the weather the U.S. Under-23 women had in Northern Ireland. …

REAL COLORADO COUGARS IN NORTHERN IRELAND: The U.S. U-23 women tied Northern Ireland 0-0 in Belfast. The U.S. outshot the hosts 15-3 but couldn’t beat goalkeeper Tiarna McKenna. The Real Colorado Cougars had four players on the U.S. roster: Kristin Arnold, Kendra Chandhoke, Keelin Winters and Bri Young. The U.S. team was supposed to play the full mational team of Ireland as well, but the match was canceled. The Americans instead faced an Irish women’s select side and won 6-0. The final game of the tour ended in a 1-0 shutout of a U-15 boys team in Ireland.

LOOKING AHEAD: New York midfielder Jorge Rojas will miss the Red Bulls’ home game against the Rapids on May 30 because of a red-card suspension. Here’s the scoop.

SHIFTING MIDFIELD CAST: Owen Perkins of MLSnet.com writes about the middle of the Rapids’ lineup.

HAHNEMANN RELEASED: Former Rapids goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann was released by Reading after a loss to Burnley. Here’s the latest on Reading from, who else, The Reading Chronicle.

WORST SOCCER MOVIE EVER: I’m still soliciting suggestions for the worst soccer movie of all time. Give me your suggestions. Tell me who you are, where you are and why your movie is the worst. Send your suggestions to ColoradoSoccerNow@gmail.com.
