Because the Sounders were just in town and are doing so well, The Tuesday List looks at Major League Soccer expansion teams’ records in the first 10 games of their first season:

Seattle Sounders (2009) 4-2-4
Chicago Fire (1998) 5-5-0
Miami Fusion (1998) 5-5-0
Real Salt Lake (2005) 3-5-2
Toronto FC (2007) 3-6-1
San Jose Earthquakes (2008) 3-6-1

George, I think you meant Miami Fusion. The Fire and the Fusion were both playoff teams in their first season, which bodes well for Seattle.

d’oh! fixed it. and the funny thing is that i actually saw the fusion play. the only game i’ve ever seen in raymond james stadium in tampa was a fusion-mutiny game. it’s also the only game i can think of that i’ve ever seen in any league that involved two teams that no longer exist.
