Colorado Rapids forward Conor Casey has been voted Major League Soccer’s player of the month for May.

Casey scored four goals and added one assist in four league matches during the month.

He led the Rapids to a 2-0-2 record in May and into the top half of the Western Conference standings while helping extend the Rapids’ unbeaten run to five games.

Casey leads the MLS Golden Boot race with eight goals in 10 games and is three goals shy of his career best: He recorded 11 goals in 21 appearances in 2008, when he led the Rapids in scoring.

He has notched 23 goals in 48 career appearances for the Rapids.

This is Casey’s first MLS player-of-the-month award, which is voted on by a panel of writers from the North American Soccer Reporters.
