Cautions, ejections and fouls … oh, my!

Colorado Rapids striker Conor Casey is leading Major League Soccer’s race for the Golden Boot, but Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman is making a run at the league’s Golden Ankle award.
He is tied for the league lead with five yellow cards in 11 matches.
So as the Rapids prepare to travel to Utah to face RSL on Saturday, The Tuesday List looks at yellow cards and fouls.

what’s weird to me is that this is Beckerman’s ninth season. thought he was newer than that.
this is his 10th season in MLS. he joined the Fusion (not the Heat) in 2000 after signing a Project 40 contract. the rapids got him in the dispersal draft before the 2002 season, when the Fusion and Mutiny were contracted. he was traded to RSL in the middle of the 2007 season for Mehdi Ballouchy, a deal that many Rapids fans will never forgive Fernando Clavijo for. however, Ballouchy has been playing well this season, and the presence of Pablo and LaBrocca on the Rapids’ roster really lessens the need for another defensive midfielder. i liked the Ballouchy-Beckerman trade when it happened. there have been times since then that i thought it was a bad deal for colorado. but right now, i’m happy with it again. ballouchy is a valuable member of the Rapids’ starting 11, and beckerman is a player who helps define the RSL footprint.
