Two derby matches in one week
After recording 1-0 home losses to Seattle last week, the Colorado Force and Real Colorado Cougars prepare to meet twice in four days in W-League fixtures.
The home-and-home dates start at 7 p.m. Thursday with Hawaiian shirt night at Loveland Sports Park; the second leg is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at Shea Stadium in Highlands Ranch.
The match against Seattle was the Force’s season opener, while Real Colorado fell to 2-2. The Cougars are already one-third of the way through their W-League schedule.
The Cougars opened the season on a three-game road trip in Southern California in mid-May, winning 3-1 over the Ventura County Fusion and 1-0 over the Los Angeles Legends, while losing 2-0 to the defending W-League champion Pali Blues.
Last season, the Cougars beat the Force 2-1 on their home field followed by a 1-1 tie at Loveland Sports Park. The Cougars scored in the closing moments to earn the tie.
