Rapids sign striker Facundo Diz

The Colorado Rapids have signed Argentinian forward Facundo Diz, the team announced today.
Diz will be available to play Saturday against the New York Red Bulls at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Rapids coach Gary Smith said Diz is a good target up front, attacks the ball well inside the penalty area, brings a wealth of experience and adds depth to the forward line.
Diz, 30, has played the majority of his professional career in Argentina, most recently with Platense, where he scored nine goals in 15 games, helping the team avoid relegation.
Diz began his career with Club Atlético All Boys in 1997 and played there for eight seasons. He was loaned in 2004 to Banfield and Venezuelan club Deportivo Tachira before returning to All Boys for 2005.
He was loaned to Club Atlético San Telmo then played the 2006-08 seasons with Club Atlético Tigre. Following a six-month run with Olimpo de Bahia Blanca at the end of 2008, Diz caught on with Club Athletico Platense this year.
Owen Perkins of MLSnet.com reports that the Rapids are close to signing Scottish forward Jamie Smith.
And the Rapids Undercurrent has a Q&A with Diz.

What type of player is he?
all i know is what smith said above: good target up front, attacks the ball well inside the penalty area, brings a wealth of experience and adds depth to the forward line. i’ve not seen him play other than warming up before the club america game. smith says he has good size, but he’s not particularly large. he’s not as big as casey, for instance. he is bigger than jamie smith, however.
Thanks, George.
