DU men ranked 25th in preseason; Buffs, CC, DU women also honored
The University of Denver men’s soccer team was ranked No. 25 in the nation in the TopDrawerSoccer.com preseason ranking.
The Web site ranks the top 48 teams in NCAA Division I men’s soccer. Akron, St. John’s, Creighton, California and Maryland made up the top five.
The Pioneers will face a host of ranked teams this season: No. 36 Stanford on Aug. 29 at home; No. 26 Duke on Sept. 26 at Durham, N.C.; No. 15 Tulsa on Oct. 3 in Oklahoma; and No. 37 New Mexico on Oct. 25 at home.

In the women’s poll, the Web site picks the top 64 teams in Division I. Colorado was picked 38th, Colorado College was 44th and DU came in at 52nd.
The state’s women’s teams also play multiple ranked teams.
The Buffaloes open the regular season at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against No. 18 Oklahoma State in Boulder. CU visits No. 20 Missouri on Oct. 9, and the Buffs and the Pioneers square off Sept. 4 in Boulder in the Colorado Soccer Classic.
DU also hosts No. 22 Illinois on Aug. 30.
Colorado College visits No. 24 Washington on Aug. 30 and No. 37 Memphis on Oct. 4.
