Mines women hold on against Nebraska-Omaha
Jessica Stark and Erin Onat scored as the Colorado School of Mines women’s soccer team improved to 2-0 with a 2-1 victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday afternoon in Golden.
Stark gave the Orediggers the lead in the 16th minute after a Mines corner kick. The teams scrambled for a loose ball in front of the UNO goal, and Stark was able to place a shot on net. Megan Woodworth tallied the assist.
Onat’s first career goal allowed Mines to increase its lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute. Dani Hering drove a ball in from the far right corner to the middle of the box, and Onat headed the ball into the goal at the near post.
The Mavericks’ Jerica Kuncl converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
