The Colorado Rapids have traded defender Ugo Ihemelu to Dallas for Drew Moor, the club announced Monday.
Along with Moor, the Rapids receive Dallas’ second-round pick in the 2010 draft plus money.
Moor was the sixth overall pick in the 2005 draft. He appeared in 123 games, with 111 starts, for Dallas, recording eight goals and two assists. This season, he has started in 21 games for the Hoops and has scored a career-high three goals.
A college teammate of Rapids midfielder Jacob Peterson at Indiana, Moor won NCAA championships with the Hoosiers in 2003 and 2004. On the international level, Moor has earned five caps with the U.S. nen’s national team.
Ihemelu leaves Colorado having played in 63 games with the Rapids, scoring one goal and registering two assists. He was acquired by the Rapids in a trade with the Los Angeles Galaxy on Dec. 1, 2006.
The Rapids host Toronto at 8 p.m. Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
