Tyler Lassiter scored twice and Chrystel Bakong and Ronnie Bouemboue added goals as North Carolina State shut out the University of Denver on Friday at the Duke/Nike Classic in Durham, N.C.

Lassiter scored at the 40-minute mark off a corner kick and added a second goal 60 minutes into the game.

Bakong gave the Wolfpack the lead 3:32 into the game, and Bouemboue finished the scoring with seven minutes to play.

Junior forward Jesse Henderson had DU’s best chance the 25th minute. After a Pioneers corner kick, Henderson had a shot, but it was blocked. His header off the rebound went wide.

Earlier Friday, Soccer America published a story about N.C. State having a good shot to win the Atlantic Coast Conference and being a dark horse to win the national championship. Read the story here.

The Pioneers conclude the tournament on Sunday in Durham against Duke. The Pioneers’ home opener is Friday against Dayton.
