A roundup of college soccer in Colorado from Sunday:

WOMEN
Metro State 1, Colorado State-Pueblo 0:
What a big difference from Friday. After pummeling the Colorado School of Mines at home two days earlier, the Roadrunners managed only a 1-0 victory over Colorado State-Pueblo 1-0 on the road Sunday. The Roadrunners improved to 5-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while Pueblo dropped to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the RMAC. Aleah DeGeneres scored an unassisted goal in the 35th minute, and Becca Maloney made three saves in the net to earn the shutout.

Mines 5, New Mexico Highlands 0: At home, the Orediggers also had a reversal of Friday’s fortunes, collecting their first win in conference play. Kayla Mitchell gave Highlands fits, notching three goals for a total of six this season. Megan Woodworth and Kim Lockard also scored for the hosts. Briana Schulze and Penny Rogers combined on the shutout.

Kansas 0, Colorado College 0: Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Hulyo posted her
second consecutive shutout, this one against the 13th-ranked Jayhawks in the CC Invitational at Stewart Field in Colorado Springs. Hulyo made five saves as the Tigers remained undefeated at
home this season. The Jayhawks came within inches of winning the match in the final 20 seconds of overtime, but a shot toward the open net by junior defender Lauren Jackson from the left side rolled just wide of the far post. CC’s best opportunity of the game came in the 81st minute, when freshman midfielder Hannah Peterson got free to the left of Kansas keeper Julie Hanley. But Hanley got a hand on Peterson’s shot from eight yards away that was headed for the upper part of the net.

Denver 3, Texas Christian 2: In the earlier game of the CC tournament, DU seniors Lizzy Carlson and Kelli Breidenbach each had a goal and an assist. Carlson put Denver on the board off a feed from Breidenbach just 8:41 into the game. TCU scored the equalizer two minutes later, but the Pioneers reclaimed the lead in the 31st minute, when sophomore midfielder Bria Beardsley scored on a Carlson assist. The Horned Frogs tied the game again in the 40th minute off a Jordan Calhoun goal. Breidenbach scored the game-winner in the 52nd minute off a pass from freshman forward Kaitlin Bast.

Florida 3, Colorado 1: The Buffaloes, ranked 20th, struggled to find the back of the net against the No. 14 Gators in a morning game. “We gave up a very bad goal, went down 2-0 away from home, it was hot, they were tired, and we panicked,” Buffs coach Bill Hempen said. “Once we gave up that goal it didn’t get any better from there. It’s human nature to deflate a little after something like that but we need to be able to battle through that and be stronger mentally.” Florida got goals from Holly King, Erika Tymrak and Lindsay Thompson. CU sophomore Kate Russell notched her first goal of the season in the 80th minute. Colorado will face No. 3 Stanford on Friday, and Santa Clara on Sunday.

Mesa State 1, UCCS 0: A ball that skipped off an attempted header by University of Colorado-Colorado Springs sweeper Lindsey Link resulted in the lone goal, at the 65:12 mark. The play started with miscommunication in the UCCS defense. A ball was sent toward the left corner and Link, the last line of defense, stepped forward to head it away. Lauren Hall, the outside defender responsible for the left side on the play, also stepped toward the pass, leaving Mesa State’s Kira Brannan alone. At the same time, Rachelle Ormond made a run straight up the middle, past the airborne UCCS duo. Brannan settled the ball and slid a crossing pass to Ormond about 15 yards from the goal, and Ormand scored past Mountain Lion goalkeeper Ashley Armstrong.

Northern Colorado 0, Boise State 0: Defense was the name of the game for the Bears. Boise State outshot UNC 23-8, but sophomore goalkeeper Kirsten Salminen held the game scoreless. “Boise State is a good team, and they put on a lot pressure,” UNC coach Tim Barrera said. “Kirsten had a good game in goal. She played very confident in the goal for 110 minutes and did not give up a goal.”

Fort Lewis 3, Adams State 0: Senior midfielder Jamie MacArthur scored twice, and substitute Torrey Larson added another for the Skyhawks. Fort Lewis has not allowed a goal in any of their six victories, and they improved to 2-0 in the RMAC.

MEN
Air Force 3, Dayton 0: Two days after falling to Denver in overtime, the University of Dayton was overwhelmed by the Falcons at the academy. Junior John Tilton and seniors Steven Noller and Kevin Rosser scored for Air Force, and senior Jim Gullo posted his fourth career shutout. The Falcons scored at least three goals in a game for just the second time since the beginning of the 2006 season.

Denver 6, Belmont 1: After notching the OT winner against Dayton on Friday, freshman forward Alex Tarnoczi scored twice as the Pioneers rolled at home. Matt Kirby, who also scored Friday against the Flyers, had three assists on Sunday. Collin Audley, Jarod Stigall, Jordan Softli and Alex DeCosta also scored for DU.

Embry Riddle 4, Adams State 1: Felipe Ferreira scored three second-half goals, including two just 93 seconds apart, in a neutral-site match at Westminster College’s Dumke Field.
Bryan Heath scored his first goal for the Grizzlies.

Seattle Pacific 4, Metro State 1: In Seattle, Ri Armstrong scored Metro State’s only goal in the game in the 81st minute on a shot from 20 yards out, assisted by Pat Laughlin.

SATURDAY
MEN

Whitman College 2, Colorado College 1: Junior forward Chris Reid scored in the sixth minute of overtime on Saturday, lifting Whitman to a come-from-behind victory at CC’s Stewart Field. Ryan Jaeger scored his first goal for the Tigers.
