Missouri State shuts out Pioneers

The University of Denver men’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Missouri State on Thursday afternoon in Springfield, Mo.

David Buckenheimer scored the game’s only goal in the 73rd minute. On a corner kick by Johannes Demarzi, Paul Paradise headed the ball to Buckenheimer’s right foot.

Missouri State improved to 5-2-1, and Denver fell to 3-3-2. DU had five corner kicks to Missouri State’s one, but the Bears outshot the Pioneers 13-6.

Senior goalkeeper Joe Willis recorded four saves.

The Pioneers conclude their road swing at Tulsa on Saturday before returning to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium to face Missouri-Kansas City at 7 p.m. Oct. 10.
