Rapids Waive Noonan

The Colorado Rapids waived veteran forward/midfielder Pat Noonan, the club announced Tuesday.
Noonan played in 17 games with nine starts and two goals for the Rapids after being acquired from the Columbus Crew.
The seven-year Major League Soccer veteran has appeared in 152 games with 40 goals and 32 assists. Most of his success came while playing for the New England Revolution from 2003-2008.
Noonan, who also has 12 appearances for the U.S. Men’s National Team, was rarely used and never seemed to be a particularly good fit with the Rapids. He made a number of late game appearances in the last third of the 2009 season, usually as the Rapids tried to salvage a point or preserve a one-goal lead late in the game.
With the release of Facundo Diz earlier this month, the Rapids have now dropped two forwards in the run-up to the season’s start. With Conor Casey in the mix for national team duty at this summer’s World Cup, look for the Rapids to pickup a backup forward soon.

Sorry to hear it. He never really fit in I agree but he was a hard worker and you have to admire how much effort he put in when he was in there. He was a much better player at New England
Noonan was a hard worker, and gave all he could on the field. I had hoped when they picked up Noonan that they would get some veteran savvy and another scoring threat. It never seemed to work out that way. He was the puzzle piece that never quite fit.
