Tony Anglin, a former head coach for two W-League organizations, has agreed to join the coaching staff as the first assistant of the Colorado Force for the 2010 season.

Anglin, who coached the Chicago Red Eleven to the 2009 W-League playoffs, will assist Force Head Coach Craig Deacon. Deacon is on the sidelines with the Force for a fifth season.

Anglin, a native of England, was the W-League Coach of the Year in 2009 when he led the Atlanta Silverbacks to the Eastern Conference Finals. He has previously worked alongside Deacon at the W-League Scouting Combine, where W-League players were evaluated by the Women’s Professional Soccer league.

“I am very excited about hiring Tony,” Deacon said. “He has a wealth of experience and history within the female game and we are very lucky to obtain his services. He will be a great addition to our program”

Anglin’s coaching background dates to 1991, when he served as coach and youth development officer for Burnham FC in England. He played for 19 years at the professional and semi-professional levels in England before entering the coaching ranks.

Both Anglin and Deacon will systematically run the team, according to the Force. Anglin will be in charge of the day to day running with the team and game day.

“His experiences will be a huge positive for the program,” Deacon said.

Also new to the coaching staff is Josh Hill as second assistant coach.

“Josh is a young enthusiastic coach and he will be great addition to our staff,” Deacon said.

He is in his second year with Core Soccer, and has experience as an assistant coach with Saint Gregory’s University and was an assistant coach for the Dallas International School. He has also played professionally with the Texas Spurs PDL, DFW Tornados Premier Arena Soccer League, DFW Tornados PDL and the Dallas Roma USL Open Cup.

Returning as assistants are Mark Clitnovici and goalkeepers coach Chris Sharpe.

The Force, which qualified for the 2009 W-League Playoffs, will open the 2010 season May 28 on the road against the Seattle Sounders.
