The Fort Lewis College Skyhawks topped the NCAA Division II poll released on Wednesday. Colorado School of Mines at No. 18 was the only other state school in the top 25 released by the National Soccer Coaches Association.

The NSCAA pre-season poll, available here, is normally an affirmation of how teams finished the previous season. The Skyhawks defeated Lees-McRae 1-0 for the school’s second national championship. The Durango squad lost a grand total of one game the entire season, a 2-1 disappointment against Incarnate Word played in San Antonio, Texas.

Colorado Mines’ 2009 men’s squad made its second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. The Orediggers faced off against Fort Lewis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament falling by a score of 3-0.

Mines and Fort Lewis will meet in a non-conference match on Friday,  Sept. 3rd, at 5 p.m.
