DU women fall on the road

The University of Denver women’s soccer team fell 2-1 to Loyola Marymount on Friday evening at Sullivan Field in Los Angeles in the season opener for both teams. 
 
LMU opened the scoring in the 30th minute as Tawni Martino netted an unassisted shot into the top right corner of the net.  Pioneers freshman Kristen Hamilton leveled for DU nine minutes later as she converted a Kaitlin Bast cross from the right side. 
 
The Lions sealed the win in the 86th minute as Cori McGovern scored an unassisted goal off a bicycle kick that slipped past Pioneer keeper Lara Campbell.
 
Denver returns home to host the University of Buffalo on Sunday afternoon at 11:30 a.m. at CIBER Field. Individual game tickets are available for purchase through the DU Box office for $5 for adults and free for children under two years of age. DU student get in free with their Pioneer ID card.
