University of Denver men’s soccer junior midfielder Jarod Stigall was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week, the MPSF announced Tuesday.

“I am happy that Jarod was recognized by the conference for his accomplishments and those of the team over the weekend,” head coach Bobby Muuss said. “There are a lot of very good players in this conference, and I am happy that Jarod was chosen for helping leading his DU teammates against two very good teams.”

Stigall scored a pair of goals, including a torpedo from 40 yards out, in DU’s tie with No. 16 Portland on Sept. 10 and helped the Pioneers knock off No. 20 Georgetown on Sunday.

This marks the first MPSF Player of the Week award for Stigall, who was named All-MPSF honorable mention last season, and the first for the Pioneers this season.

The Pioneers next return to Denver to host Oral Roberts on Sept. 17 and Penn State on Sept. 19 at CIBER Field.
