Orediggers grab RMAC accolades
Colorado School of Mines’ Briana Schulze and Megan Woodworth were named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday.
Schulze and Woodworth helped Mines open up RMAC play with a pair of wins. CSM opened conference play at home with a 2-1 victory over Regis on Friday. Mines picked up a 2-1 win on the road at UC-Colorado Springs on Sunday to improve to 2-0 in RMAC play and 3-1-2 overall.
Schulze, a senior goalkeeper from Centennial, played all 180 minutes in net over the two-game stretch. The Pre-Season RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, Schulze allowed just two goals and made 10 saves combined in the two matches.
Woodworth, a sophomore from Centennial, led the Orediggers offensive attack scoring all four goals in the two matches. Against Regis, Woodworth converted her first career penalty kick. For her career against the Rangers, Woodworth has four goals in four games. Woodworth notched the game-winner against UC-Colorado Springs in the final 48 seconds of the match. Woodworth currently leads in the RMAC in goals (6) and points (13).
The Orediggers play a pair of road games this week. Mines will play at Colorado Christian on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Mines will play at Metro State on Friday at 4 p.m.
