Pioneer women take 1-0 win

Forward Kaitlin Bast scored in the 51^st minute, leading the Pioneers to a 1-0 victory over Middle Tennessee and their first conference game win of the season on Friday evening.

DU improved to 7-2-0 with the win, while Middle Tennessee fell to 3-7.

On the game’s sole goal, Bast received the ball on a cross from freshman forward Kristen Hamilton. Bast followed her shot as it bounced off the post, collected the rebound and scored.

“We weren’t very good in the first half, but the second half was much better because we put more pressure on Middle Tennessee,” said head coach Jeff Hooker.

‘Keeper Lara Campbell made seven saves, six in the second half, to preserve the shutout.

DU next faces Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Sunday.
