Campbell makes College Soccer list
University of Denver women’s soccer sophomore goalkeeper Lara Campbell was named one of CS360’s Primetime Players of the Week for Sept. 20-26, College Soccer 360 announced Monday.
“Lara saved us in the two games against Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky,” head coach Jeff Hooker said. “Those are two of the toughest places to play in our conference, so to come out with two shutouts was big for us.”
Campbell recorded a pair of shutouts and made a combined 13 saves on the road at Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky, marking just the second time DU (8-2-0, 2-0-0 Sun Belt Conference) has shutout the Blue Raiders and Hilltoppers on the road and the first since 2001. The wins vaulted the Pioneers to No. 25 in this week’s Soccer America Poll.
Campbell is 8-2-0 on the season, holding opponents to one goal or less in each of Denver’s eight victories.
The Pioneers return home to CIBER Field to face Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday at 7 p.m. and Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday at noon.
