DU downs FAU 3-0

Bria Beardsley, Kaitlin Bast and Kalie Vaughn each scored as the Pioneers romped past Florida Atlantic University on Friday evening 3-0.

With the win, Denver improved to 13-2-0, 7-0-0 Sun Belt Conference. FAU dropped to 4-10-0, 3-4-0 Sun Belt. The Pioneers, riding an eight-game win streak, lead the conference by two games and have qualified for the conference tournament.

Beardsley scored in the 6th minute off an assist from Vaughn and fired in off the post for the goal. Bast doubled the lead in the 24th minute when she tapped in a cross from Kristen Hamilton.

Vaughn finished the scoring at CIBER Field when she punched in a Nicholette DiGiacomo cross in the 56th minute.

“This was a good way to start the weekend,” head coach Jeff Hooker said.

Goalkeepers Lara Campbell and Maria Khan combined for the shutout.

Denver hosts Florida International University (8-6-1, 5-2-0 Sun Belt) at 11 a.m. Sunday.
