And a Cowgirl leads them all?
Julissa Rodriguez of New Mexico Highlands is the 2010 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year in women’s soccer, the conference announced Tuesday.
She is the first player in Cowgirls history to receive this honor. Rodriguez leads the RMAC in goals per game (0.76) and points per game (1.82). The Cowgirls went 9-3-2 in the conference and are the number three seed in the RMAC Women’s Soccer Tournament. Highlands plays UCCS on Wednesday night in Las Vegas, N.M.
Christine Schmelzle of Fort Lewis was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year.
Anna Evans of Colorado Mines is the RMAC Freshman of the Year. She is the first player in Orediggers history to get this award.
Damian Clarke of Fort Lewis is the RMAC Women’s Soccer Co-Coach of the Year. Clarke was also named Coach of the Year last season. Justin Wagar of New Mexico Highlands is the other co-coach of the year. He is the second NMHU coach to earn this award (Greg Rusk, 2001).
The 11 head women’s soccer coaches in the RMAC chose the all-conference teams (coaches cannot vote for their own players).
