No team in NCAA Division I women’s soccer won more games than the 19 that the Pioneers did this fall.

But they won’t be one of the 64 teams with a chance to win another game in the NCAA tournament.

The pairings were announced Monday afternoon, and they included 14 teams with at least seven losses. Among that group is Middle Tennessee, 13-8-2, 9-2-0 Sun Belt Conference, which defeated DU 3-2 on penalty kicks after playing 110 scoreless minutes in the conference tournament finals on Saturday.

For comparison, Denver, 19-2-1, 11-0-0, won more games than every one of the No. 1 seeds in each of the four regions. In fact, the Pioneers won more games than any of the teams seeded No. 2-4 in any of the four regions. Only UNC-Greensboro at 19-1-1 won as many games as the Pioneers.
