The Colorado Rapids announced their first roster move of the New Year on Monday by signing defender Tyrone Marshall. Per club and league policies, financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Marshall is officially added to the club’s roster after being selected by Colorado with the 16th pick in Stage 2 of the 2010 Major League Soccer Re-Entry Process on Dec. 15.

A 13-year MLS veteran, Marshall returns to Colorado where he began his professional career after being drafted by the Rapids in the first round, 11th overall, of the 1998 MLS College Draft. He has played in 294 games (9th most amongst active MLS players and 15th all-time), 260 as a starter, and scored 16 goals and added 20 assists during his tenure with Colorado, Miami, Los Angeles, Toronto and Seattle.

Marshall is a two-time MLS All-Star (2003, 2005), two-time MLS Cup champion (2002, 2005) and a three-time U.S. Open Cup champion (2005, 2009, 2010). A fixture on the Jamaican National Team, he has 70 caps for the Reggae Boyz and has scored five international goals.
