The Colorado Rapids are coming off back-to-back worst performances of the season, the team’s best forward is suspended and the squad’s mired in mid-table in the Western Conference.

No worries, it’s time for the Fourth of July. And for the Rapids, that means a long history of good results.

The team is hosting its 16th annual fireworks match, this time on July 3, and the Rapids have owned the night. In a special edition, The Thursday List looks at past Rapids Independence Day matches.

Year      Opponent        Result
1996      New York        W, 2-1

2009     Chicago             L, 2-1

In the previous 15 years, the Rapids boast an 11-2-2 record. However, since moving to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in 2007, the squad is only 1-1-2.

With the Houston Dynamo visiting on Sunday, Colorado gets a chance to make it 12 wins in 16 tries.
