Rapids continue disappointing run

The Colorado Rapids have exhausted the thesaurus entry for “disappointing” this season, and now the team has moved on to “frustrating.”
The Rapids dominated the game on Sunday, outshooting the Houston Dynamo 14-3, but failed to score in a 0-0 draw.
The finish left the Rapids at 5-5-8 on the season and an abysmal 2-2-5 at home. It also left 18,203 waiting for “4thFest” fireworks to fill the Commerce City sky and wishing it had seen some fireworks on the field.
If you need to know anything else about the game, here’s the proof that “frustration” is the new “disappointing.” Forward Quincy Amarikwa picked up a red card after the final whistle for words he exchanged with referee Baldomero Toledo.
For the Rapids, Amarikwa’s red card continued a disturbing trend for attackers. Forwards Amarikwa, Caleb Folan and Conor Casey have each been ejected from games, with Amarikwa’s and Casey’s coming in back-to-back games.
Bookings for Rapids forwards come as the team struggles to score. The Rapids have 19 goals in 18 games, with 10 of those goals coming from forwards.
