I had a chance to speak with Adrian Hanauer, the general manager and one of the owners of the Seattle Sounders, at halftime of Saturday’s 2-2 tie between the Colorado Rapids and the Sounders. He watched the game, wearing his Sounders scarf, from the press box and was quite animated. The game was 1-1 at halftime.

The Rapids will face the Seattle Sounders in their next U.S. Open Cup play-in match on May 26 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash.

The Colorado Rapids will travel to Washington to play the Seattle Sounders in the teams’ next U.S. Open Cup qualifying match.

With a 4-1 victory over Real Salt Lake, the Seattle Sounders have advanced in U.S. Open Cup qualifying and will face the Colorado Rapids.

So the University of Denver is building a $6.7 million stadium, hoping Colorado
soccer fans will think so, too. Pioneers season tickets will go on sale Friday, the same day the DU men will take on Regis University in an exhibition at Englewood High School. The match includes a silent auction with a variety of Major League Soccer items, including two autographed jerseys donated by former DU and Colorado Rapids player Nat Borchers.

The Colorado Rapids will return to Southern California and play the Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday for a U.S. Open Cup play-in game.
The U.S. Open Cup game will be one of three meetings between the teams this month. The Rapids and Galaxy had a scheduled Major League Soccer fixture Saturday night at the Home Depot Center, and the Galacticos will visit Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on April 25.
