Senior goalkeeper Andy McGhie made four saves en route to his fourth shutout of the season as Colorado College defeated Millsaps College, 1-0, in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Friday afternoon at Stewart Field.

Freshman forward Brandon Ogilvie scored the only goal of the game during the seventh minute on a header off a flick pass from freshman forward Sean Parham. Ogilvie extended his goal-scoring streak to three games. It was the earliest CC has scored in a game this season.

The sequence started when Parham drilled the crossbar from 20 yards out and sophomore forward Matt Fechter collected the rebound on the right side, and got it back to Parham at the lower right corner of the box.

Colorado College posted a 20-7 advantage in total shots and enjoyed an 8-4 edge in shots on goal.

Dylan Broussard finished with seven saves to keep Millsaps in the contest. He denied Fechter’s shot to the top left corner during the 20th minute and made a sliding stop in the 39th minute when Fechter got behind the Millsaps defense.

Broussard also stopped Ben Glass from point-blank range in the 65th minute after the CC freshman one-timed a pass from Fechter in the center of the box.

Colorado College plays host to Birmingham-Southern College on Sunday at 11 a.m.
