Orediggers roll past CC 4-0

With two goals in each half and solid defense throughout, the 3rd- ranked Colorado School of Mines men’s soccer team posted a 4-0 victory over Colorado Christian on Wednesday afternoon in RMAC action at the CSM Soccer Stadium.
 
In the 31st minute, Alex Gunberg connected with Baski Baker who found Tesho Akindele in the box for the goal. The goal was Akindele’s second of the season. Gunberg tallied his fourth assist while Baker picked up his first.
 
 In the 43rd minute, Akindele and Gunberg found each other once again. This time Akindele played a through ball into the box for Gunberg’s fourth goal of the season.
 
Philip Wilson made the score 3-0 in favor of Mines in the 57th minute of the match. Akindele chipped a ball far post to the feet of Wilson who volleyed it home for the goal. The assist was Akindele’s third of the season.
 
Wilson tallied his fourth goal of the season in the 79th minute on a cross sent him from the far right side of the box by Brandon Sawada. It was Sawada’s first career assist.
 
CSM picked up its fourth shutout victory on the season. The Mines defense allowed just five shots in the match only one of which was on goal. Manville Strand picked up the win in net making one save. The Orediggers peppered the Colorado Christian box with 29 shots for the game.
 
Mines (6-0-0, 3-0-0 RMAC) plays at No. 18 Regis on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Orediggers will host No. 11 Metro State on Sunday at noon.

Colorado Christian, 1-6-0, 1-2-0 RMAC, hosts Metro State at 3:30 on Friday.
