The Kitsap Pumas proved to be too much for the Real Colorado Foxes, defeating the visitors from Highlands Ranch 3-1 on Tuesday night in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Cameron Hepple put the Pumas up in the 17th minute in Bremerton, Wash. Colorado’s pressure, however, led to a Steve Mohn own goal in the 23rd minute.

The Pumas then broke the draw and created a mountain for the Foxes to climb just before the half. Robbie Christner scored in the 43rd minute to put the Pumas on top.

As the Foxes scrapped for an equalizer, the Pumas finally found the coup de grace. In the 88th minute, Christner got his second goal of the evening, relieving attacking pressure and providing the final margin.

The game was the first loss of the year for the Foxes. The team started the season by winning seven games and tying one. The Foxes then easily won a first round Open Cup match.

The Foxes return home and return to Premier Development League play on Saturday when the team faces Winnipeg at Shea Stadium in Highlands Ranch.
